Well there's a couple tricks to doing the hair. Firstly, I use apoxie sculpt, which dries solid as a rock. It's a lot harder than sculpy, so you can either sculpt part of it and add on to it piece by piece as it dries. (This can take a while.) With Cadance's ponytail I sculpted the parts that sit on her head, and then I stuck a nice thick piece of wire into her mane where I wanted the ponytail to be. Once that dried, I sculpted the ponytail over top of the wire. I do the same thing for all my ponies' tails. I cut a piece of wire that is just about the size of the tail hole and then sculpt over it. It makes it nice and sturdy.
